ConnecTech Project- Volunteer Recruitment- Phase 2.

ConnecTech is a project which teaches students Information Technology (IT) knowledge related with the purpose of helping underprivileged students get closer to the technology world and get an opportunity to find a better job. The first chapter of ConnecTech will teach students how to use the programming language (JavaScript…) to build a commercial website.

[VOLUNTEERS NEEDED]

• YMCA Vietnam would like to recruit interpreters for ConnecTech Project related to teaching highschool students how to create an e – commerce website.
• Quantity: 10 volunteers + 4 admins

1. Responsibilities of Interpreters:

• Provide additional learning support to students where identified;
• Translate English into Vietnamese back and forth to ensure mutual understanding between Singaporean volunteer teachers and Vietnamese students;
• Help maintain order in the classroom;
• Give feedback to the teacher on their methods of teaching and other relevant matters.

• Requirements:

• Have a good command of spoken English;
• Be an excellent communicator;
• Be reliable, punctual, able to work as a part of a team;
• Commit to being free for all the classes;
• Prior experience in teaching environment or IT is preferred.

2. Responsibilities of Admins:

• Assist with translating and handing out learning materials to Vietnamese students;
• Take and report the attendance of students to YMCA Vietnam and YMCA Singapore coordinators;
• Make announcements to parents and contact them if necessary;
• Assign students into breakout rooms base on the given list;
• Support the social and emotional needs of students.

• Requirements:

• Have a good command of English;
• Be reliable, punctual, able to work as a part of a team;
• Commit to being free for all the classes;
• Good at Microsoft Office Skills (Know how to use Google Drive, Google Slides).
